Life, with the garden

Hanna and Kirke gave me a girls’ weekend in Copenhagen to celebrate having finished my PhD. I had just accepted a postdoc position in Bergen and would move to Norway in a couple of months, so some concentrated quality hangout time was such a lovely idea …
… but I was empty. Nothing left in me, after defending.
There were moments, for sure – good food, outdoor cocktails under the heaters, Christmas shopping, Copenhagen such a friendly, walkable city. A visit to the botanical garden, the gorgeous greenhouses, Kirke, Hanna and Alvar bearing with me, my plant photography.
… but mostly, I was exhausted. Probably not a nice travel companion. And just so grateful, that temporary grumpiness is OK, when hanging out with friends one has known for more than a quarter of a century.
