The main thing, though, that I made with the handwoven ribbons during the year-and-a-half of weaving 2024-2025: Lanyards.
First, everyone in my group at work got one. Then, everyone I spent Christmas with – we took some cute family portraits with my dad, stepmom, brother, cousins and their kids, where the matching outfit detail was my colorful, handmade lanyards.
And then, throughout the spring 2025, whenever I’ve met someone I like and I happened to have some lanyards with me. I carried around a selection specifically for that purpose.
And I ended up having tons left, after having given one to basically everyone I know. I’ll probably continue giving them to new people I meet. I am like the friendly cartoon grandma with hard candies in her purse for anyone who needs some encouragement – except, my candies are handwoven lanyards in my backpack.
