IDUN, THE BRINGER OF LIFE

Finishing date: April 2020. Styling by Natalia Salazar. Photographed by Katja Malmborg in April 2020.

Jonna as Idun, the goddess of youth and eternal life in Norse mythology. Idun is the keeper of the apples of life, the fruit that the Norse gods have to eat in order to maintain their youth and beauty. Once, she was kidnapped by a giant, together with her box of apples. The Norse gods started to age quickly and a daring rescue mission was sent out to bring her back, through the means of magic and cunning. Eventually, she was brought back to Asgard and the gods returned to their youth, beauty and recklessness once more.

Our friend Jonna asked Natalia and I to take some creative pregnancy photographs of her in April 2020, a couple of weeks before her daughter Märta arrived to the world. I knit the scarf using a fine mohair yarn, just to contribute something to the set-up, but otherwise this shoot was all Natalia’s idea and execution. I just took the photographs.
