The water was cold. I could not feel my feet by the end. I always do this. When exercising gets the least bit uncomfortable, I give up. But for an art or craft related idea, I’ll give myself frostbite.
This is also the river that runs though the municipality where my grandpa grew up, close to the west coast of central Finland. It is also where Natalia’s family comes from. There’s something about flowing water and blood and, you know, tracing a lineage. It felt special.
The dress is made from a cotton-linen blend, one of the stress-and-angst-management, Covid-and-PhD-finishing pieces.
